Desktop Services:

Since we opened our doors, KBS has performed more than 100,000 computer installations. These engagements are distributed across commercial and government markets, encompassing local and national locations.  We have the capacity to engage in worldwide deployments, ranging from several hundreds unit to tens of thousands of units.  Our installation process is a structured, systematic methodology that has evolved from lessons learned on prior engagements. Successful adherence to established installation schedules is only obtained when preliminary activities of acquisition, distribution, client schedule consultation, and personnel deployment are appropriately coordinated, monitored, and completed.

Many large manufacturers of computer products utilize KBS’ configuration center, located in Orland Park, Illinois, as a central hub for national deployments. Our “config” center affords us the ability to ensure efficient, timely and pre-configured delivery and installation of client equipment.  Although manufacturers build computers according to user specifications, there are several additional tasks our clients require prior to them taking delivery of their orders.  KBS creates unique asset tags and affixes them to each unit.  In some cases our clients desire RFID tags to be affixed as well for their internal asset management and inventory control systems.  We also been asked to create customer images of a “model” unit that contains the appropriate software, updates, configuration and user accounts and deploy this image to several hundred or several thousand units at our facility.  As a standard practice, KBS collects specific information about each unit and populates a database for our clients which can be quickly referenced for validation of warranties or added to their loss prevention inventory list.

Our clients have grown to depend on our config center for various reasons, including the ability for them to place orders for large quantities of equipment, have them configured and stored at KBS until they are prepared to take delivery.  They also realize the value in KBS ensuring their equipment is field tested and functioning prior to them receiving it.  We work directly with manufacturers and have arranged for defective and DOA units to be returned, credited and replaced.  Many of our large clients do not have adequate storage and staging facilities required to complete substantial technology refreshes, but KBS does.
